Easily create contacts and accounts in FreeAgent. There are multiple different ways to create Contacts and Accounts in FreeAgent, such as automations and imports, but for now, let’s look at the most basic method of creating a Contact using the manual 'Add Contacts' option in the Navigation Menu.
Step 1
To create a Contact, navigate to the Apps Menu along the left-hand side and select a view for the application of your choice. In this example, we've navigated to the Contacts app and clicked on the "All Contacts" view.
Step 2
Select the 'Add' button in the top right corner to open the Contacts modal. Now we can fill in all details for the Contact, such as 'Name', 'Title', 'Lead Source', 'Contact Stage', and more.
If you want to customize which fields show here, which ones are required, and more, check out the Guide: Form Fields.
Required fields, represented by the red asterisk, need to be filled out in order to save the record.
The grayed-out fields are fields that are restricted due to form rules, or other settings that restrict manually adding data. They can also be fields that are ‘Calculated’ and created automatically by FreeAgent.
To learn more about Calculated Fields, check out the Guide: Calculated Fields.
With a Reference field, we can reference this Contact to an Account, or to any other object, like a Support Ticket. References associate records together, like Contacts with Accounts.
To learn more about References, Check out the Guide: References(Field) or References(Join Field).
All other fields can be left blank and updated at a later time.
Step 3
Once you are done entering your contact information, click 'Save' and the record will be created within the Contacts App, which can be accessed in 'All Contacts' under the Contacts dropdown menu, or any other 'Saved View' that you have created in FreeAgent.
To learn more about Views in FreeAgent check out the Guide: Saved Views.
Creating an Account is done the same way. This time we'll navigate to the Apps Menu along the left-hand side and select the "All Accounts" view. Then click on the "Add" button in the top right corner of the screen.
Great job!
Your Contacts and Accounts can now be accessed directly in Views, or in Reports, Searches, Exports, and References.
Updating a Record is just as easy. Just like creating a record, you can update records directly while in the record by clicking on the 'Edit' button in the top right, using automations, or editing in batches.
