There were a couple of improvements to views in general, and the List view got a few new features. Here is the detail.
List View Newest Features
In the List view now you can drag & drop column headers to reorder them. If you move one to the upper right corner it will be pinned, if you scroll horizontally, that column won’t move.
It is also easier to manage your columns in the List view through ‘Filter, Sort & more’.
Last but not least a feature we believe you are going to love: Dot.Walking. It is so mind-blowing, that it gets its own section.
Dot.Walking
It lets you connect information to different Apps dynamically. You will be able to add column headers from other Apps as long as you have a Reference filed for them.
This feature is available for your List view columns, but we have also added it to your Filters in any of your Apps. We thought that it would give you the option to create even more powerful reports.
All {App Name} Views Configurable by Admins
Team administrators have the option to save changes to our existing All {App Name} views. These views by default are List views, but now you can choose a different view type for them. Feel free to configure them as you see fit.
Charts are now widgets
We have mentioned this in the other enhancements pages, but from the Views standpoint, this means simplification. Now there are only 4 views for you to choose from: list, board, rolodex, and calendar. Each includes different configuration elements.
As always, you will be able to save your views to later use them to create powerful widgets for your Dashboards.
To make this transition as smooth as possible for you we migrated all your existing chart views to a ‘List view + Dashlet’ combination.
Dashlets
Dashlets are like mini-dashboards that allow you to add one or more widgets that you can fully customize, to any of your views. They are located at the top of the view. You can resize them and hide them at will. You also have the option to collapse or expand them.
UI Changes
We have simplified the configuration process of your views merging the Filters and Configuration dropdown into a single one called, ‘Filter, Sort & More’. From here you can manage every single aspect of your views from adding filters, sorting options, defining groups for your data, enabling pivot tables to even adding calculations, all in the same dropdown. Each view will contain its own configuration options.
Unsaved Changes
If you make changes to an existing view and you want to navigate to other views within FreeAgent CRM, you won’t receive the ‘Unsaved Changes’ warning anymore. We have made an important change here, instead of the warning, we show a change indicator right next to the View's name.
You will be able to get back to the view with the unsaved changes if you click your browser’s back button.
A word of caution to this tale, if you get back to the view by clicking it right from the main menu, all the changes made to it will be lost. The view will be reset back to its original state.
Replaced Features
There were two features that were replaced as part of the improvements for the new reporting engine. Here are the details:
- Pareto. It was replaced by Sort. This means that now you have more control over how your data is ordered in all your views. You can add multiple sorting options, to make sure your information is presented in the exact order you need it to.
- Pivot by (and secondary pivot by). It was replaced by Groups. You can add up to 2 Groups to your data. Additionally, it includes the option to enable Pivot Table in order to view aggregation across your selected groups. Visualize your pivot table in up to 3 widgets in the same view.
