They are mainly used to show the distribution of the values as slices or parts of the whole. Some consider that they work best when there are 6 or fewer categories to be displayed. Larger values are possible, but visually it might lose its purpose. For those cases, consider using bar or column charts.
Usage Example
Create a Pie chart to see the Total Revenue of each account. Enable 'Show % value' to know the percentage each of them brings to the Pie.

When enabled, large values are condensed. For example, the value $25,000,000 will be formatted as $25M |
Show % Values |
Replaces the count or sum values for their corresponding percentage. |

Two available placement possibilities: Inside or Outside. |
