This filter, available for all Apps that have a Reference field that points to the team members, it is a great way to create Saved Views that will show user-specific information meaning that, it will show the records that belong to that team member.
Let's use the Tasks App to describe the use case. The idea is to create a Save View that we are going to add to the Tasks' menu, that allows all the team members to see only their not done Tasks as soon as they visit that view, without the need to apply further filters and most importantly, without having to create a saved view for each of your team members.
Step 1. Apply Filters
Navigate to the Tasks App, select one of the available views and then apply the following two fiters:
- Assigned To - Is - Current User
- Status - Is - Not Done
If you want them to see all their Task, skip the Status filter.
Optional. Include a Sort by Due Date ascending, to keep the tasks with an approaching due date at the beginning of the list.
Step 2. Create Save View
Now that you have applied the filters it is time to save it as a View. Simply click the Save View button and save it as a New View, make sure you share it with your Team. Since the view will show the information for the current user you can save it as "My Tasks".
Step 3. Add it to the Menu
This is the final step. We want to make sure that everyone has a on-click access to their own Tasks, so we are going to add the "My Tasks" save view to the menu under the Tasks App.
Navigate to Admin Settings > App Setup > Tasks > Menu Items.
There click the 'Add New Menu Item' button. Name it "My Tasks" and under type select 'View'. A field called View will appear. There select the 'My Tasks' view and save.
The Save view will be added to the menu for everyone in your team.
