This field type is a rather unique one as it stores no value, instead, it allows for an action to be performed. For example, if you would like to create a meeting and set a date and time, you can use the Schedule field to have the option to select the time right from the calendar view by dragging your cursos in the desired time slot.
You can also switch the view to Resource Day/Week to review if your team members have some availability for the meeting as well.
To create this field type you will need to create beforehand the following fields:
- Start Time - Date Time field
- End Time - Date Time field
- Date - Date field
- All Day - Boolean field
- Resource - Users Reference field
- Guests - Multi Reference to Team Members field
On the user interface, this field shows as an action with a label that you can customize, from "Select a Date", or "Pick a time". When clicked on, it will show a Calendar view so that users can add a new event.
Configuring a Schedule Field
Give your field a name and add a field hint if desired. You can then select the section in which the field will be created or keep the default option.
For this field, on top of the field hint, you also have the option to add a help text that describes the expected values of the field. On the form, your team members will see an 'i' that will display the help text when hovered over.
The field type must be set to 'Schedule'.
Next, you need to assign the fields you previously created to each of the corresponding fields. They are all required.
Start Time - Date Time field
|This field stores the date and start time for the event.|
|End Time - Date Time field||This field stores the date and end time for the event.|
|Date - Date field||This field is meant to store the date if no time is selected and 'All Day' is set to yes.|
|All Day - Boolean field||Sets the event for 'All Day' and places it at the top of the Calendar view.|
Resource - Users Reference field
|Select team members and review their calendars.|
Guests - Multi Reference to Team Members field
|Select other team members to invite to the event.|
If you enable the 'Lock After Create' as its name implies, the field will be locked once the new record is saved and the value of the field will not be editable afterward.
Once you are done setting your field, click the save button.
Note: All new fields are added at the bottom of the form.
