Here is an introduction to FreeAgent CRM's core concepts. We sometimes use these concepts and their definitions in our communications, so we think it's important to share their definitions so we all have a common understanding.

Software Platform |
A Software Platform is an ecosystem of resources that helps you to grow your business. A platform enables growth through connection; its value comes from its ability to connect external tools, data, and processes to internal services. |
PaaS |
Platform as a Service is a cloud computing ecosystem that provides all resources needed to develop, store, and deliver software. |
SaaS |
Software as a Service allows users to connect with cloud-based applications through the Internet and use them anytime, anywhere. |
CSV |
CSV is the file format used for importing and exporting records. It stands for Comma Separated Value and is a plain text format. This means it does not support rich text formatting, which is important when preparing CSV files. |
OOTB |
Out-of-the-box. These are features that ship standard with FreeAgent. In this Knowledge Base we fully spell this out in each article, but you may encounter this acronym in other areas. |
Subscription |
A subscription model allows customers to use a product for a period of time. During this time the product could have multiple upgrades increasing the value or enhancing the functionalities based on customer needs. |
Integration |
There is strength in numbers! Integrations allow software to share information with third parties to enhance workflows, automate processes, or work more efficiently. |
Product Glossary
This Getting Started guide will include the terms listed below. To ensure we are all on the same page in regard to their meaning, here are FreeAgent's definitions for them.

Company |
Your team account that stores all data and users. |
App |
The backbone of our system, Apps are fully customizable to fit your company’s workflow and processes. Apps house your data. |
Field |
User interface element designed for entering data, you will find them when creating or updating a record. |
View |
Views are customized visualizations with filters and configurations created by a user. Save Views to reuse ones you reference often. |
Card |
Cards act as small summaries for your Apps. Each card contains relevant information about a record. Completely customize the information shown on each card in App setup. |
Lines |
A line is the detail of an app, just as the lines in a quote or an invoice. |
Team |
Groups of users allowed to see specific data associated with their group. |
User |
A user is a person allowed to log in to our application. |
Role |
Restricts access to specific actions, Apps, or settings to users in the application. |
Related List |
A list of all of the associations between Apps such as an association between Contacts and Accounts. |
Next Steps |
Reminders that alert you of actions to take. e.g. Call a lead today or send an automated email next week. |
Email Tracking |
Receive notifications when one of your prospects opens an email or downloads an attached form. We track every email sent from our application for your reporting purposes. |
