Whenever a new Contact is created in FreeAgent CRM you can specify to which account you want to associate that Contact with. If you add the information of an Account that doesn't exist in FreeAgent CRM yet, then the system will create the Account for you.
But what happens when you are reviewing the Account's details and you realize you don't have the contact you need there, but the contact already exists? There is no need to worry, we have you covered.
Add an existing Contact to an Account
Once you are on the details of the Account, you can see the contacts associated with it selecting the 'Contacts' option on the drop-down menu. There you will see all the contacts that have been associated with the Account.
If the contact is not listed there, then you will need to edit the Contact. To do so, click on the 'Contacts' tab and get to the contact. To speed the process, you can use the existing filters or do a search by name or last name.
Then click on the Contacts name to get to the details page. There click on 'Things You Can Do' and then click 'Edit' or click the 'Edit' button right below the Contact's picture.
This will display the Contacts editing window. Under Account, start typing the account name and select the corresponding one from the available options. Then click the 'Save' button.
Once your new Contact is saved, the system will link the Contact to the Account.
If you click the Account's name, you will be redirected to the Account's detail page and the Contact will be visible under the 'Contacts' segment.
Well done! Now you can add existing contacts to your Accounts as needed. This could be particularly useful if one of your Contacts just switched companies or didn't have one associated when it was added on FreeAgent CRM.
